SHS Spring Conference
Register now to join historians, educators, and other history professionals in sharing new scholarship. Hosted this year by SHSMO, the Missouri Conference on History will open with a reception sponsored by the Boone County Historical Museum and Galleries.
The keynote luncheon, sponsored by the Missouri Humanities Council, will feature Center for Missouri Studies fellowship winner Patrick Huber, a professor of history at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He will explore historical memory in his hometown, Ste. Genevieve, regarding the race riot that occurred there in 1930.
On the evening of March 10, the conference will celebrate women’s contributions to Missouri government with a public interview of Gracia Yancey Backer, the first female majority floor leader in the Missouri House of Representatives. The conference will culminate in the awards luncheon, also sponsored by the Missouri Humanities Council.
The full tentative program is available at http://shs.umsystem.edu/mch. Should you need accommodations, the conference room rate ($109.00/night) is available at the Courtyard Marriott through February 15. Additional hotel details are also available on the conference website.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
