Free Teaching Packets “American Indians, American Settlers and the 1815 Treaties of Portage des Sioux”
As part of the Commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of the signing of the 1815 Treaties of Portage des Sioux; MOCHE along with the Missouri Humanities Council and the Land Between the Rivers Historical and Genealogical Society of Portage des Sioux, MO has developed two teaching packets. They deal with Indian culture in the Midwest, the American Westward Movement, the War of 1812 in the Midwest and the Treaties of Portage des Sioux. The unites develop critical thinking skills using both primary and secondary documents.
They are free of charge and may be downloaded and reproduced for use in your classroom.
