A Cross-Curricular Approach to Teaching World History
Katie Patton and Kortney Sebben from Centralia R-VI High School presented at the 2016 Annual MOCHE Conference.
World History and world literature classes join together in an effort to create a cross-curricular project and assessments. These cross-curricular activities include a research-based essay and a research-based activity culminating in a debate. Topics for the debate are established from a literary work used in language arts and includes elements related to the study of the Enlightenment. A cross-curricular activity that includes world history, language arts, science, math, and foreign language (when applicable) in a two-day UN simulation was also discussed.
