Upcoming MOCHE Events Postponed...

MOCHE is postponing two upcoming events, on March 24th and April 1st. We will make further decisions as events continue to unfold in our region. Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19.

Please see the statement below emailed to all members…

Dear MOCHE Community,

The Missouri Council for History Education would like to extend our heartfelt thoughts to all of those dealing with the consequences of the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19.

As prudence dictates, MOCHE is postponing two upcoming events on March 24th and April 1st.

Our History Education Communities discussion on March 24th of The 1619 Project will be rescheduled as circumstances allow, either later this semester or next fall. The Visiting Scholars Event on April 1st at Warrensburg High School, featuring Dr. Emily Wakild, will likely be rescheduled for the fall semester. We will have further information on these and other events as we know more in the coming weeks and months.

Moments like this serve to affirm the importance of our work. As leaders grapple with difficult decisions, we hope they had good history teachers. We hope that as events continue to unfold at the regional, national, and global levels all citizens will remember the lessons that history provides: to appreciate the perspective of other humans, to search for wisdom and calm from historical context, and to always check our sources.

Thank you for the tremendous work you do every day as history educators to make our world a better place.

Have a wonderful and rejuvenating spring break. We will see you soon!

The MOCHE Board

Will Armon
